We’ve all been there, we have a rug and want to use it in a space but the size just isn’t right, not to mention you probably need one that’s bigger for your room which can be super expensive and a huge commitment. I’ve pulled together some ways to get creative when decorating with small Moroccan kilim rugs!
IN A FOYER
Every foyer needs a rug to help keep dirt from being tracked all over the house, so you might as well make it a statement piece. Layer small Moroccan kilim rugs under a seagrass rug so it better fills out the space.
IN SMALL SPACES
Small rugs are a great way to ground a specific piece of furniture like this piano bench and also help protect the hardwood floor. Throw size rugs are the perfect size for under a small dining table, in a kitchen, or to soften tile floors in a laundry area.
IN THE LIVING ROOM
Throw a rug over the back of a settee for an instant update with lots of color and texture. If you have two, place them around your furniture arrangement instead of under it, that way you can appreciate the entire pattern rather than hiding it under your coffee table. Of course a rug can make an awesome focal piece of art, especially when hung over a sofa.
IN THE BEDROOM
Instead of putting a large rug under a bed where it’s mostly hidden, place it to the side of the bed so you have something soft to step out onto. You could also hang them on the wall to create a headboard, or drape it over a wooden headboard to create a soft, non committal accent. Kilim’s are thin and flexible so they could also be used as a bed covering.
Most of the On Delancey Place kilim rugs are between 58″-60″ long which when hung horizontally or placed onto of the bed fit perfectly on a double or queen sized mattress.
IN THE BATHROOM
A small Moroccan kilim rug is the perfect size for most bathrooms, plus it’s not only beautiful but utilitarian as well!
