Hi, I'm Alison!

I've been in this biz for over a decade and created Free E-Design as way to help busy people furnish their homes better. I love the process of getting to know you so I can create the escape you've always dreamed of.

Homes should be more personal than perfect, and not simply lived in, but loved.

It's my goal to simply the process, be mindful of your needs and wallet, and to have fun while we get it done!

.01 ANSWER :

Absolutely! While many Interior Designers won't take on a single room, I love them!

The minimum furniture budget for the initial room is 25k.

But beware, you may fall in love with my signature process and want to do your whole house. 

.02 ANSWER :

With (Fre)E-Design the focus is on selecting your furniture, lighting, art & accessories. Plus you'll get a furniture layout & paint color too!

If you need more in depth design services like construction drawings, millwork, finish selections, electrical plans, & project management check out the renovate service if you want it all done for you. 

.03 ANSWER :

I'm not hiding anything - we make a profit on furniture packages, same any other retailer. Think of us as a walking, talking, furniture store - except better. 

All of the pieces are priced at MSRP, guaranteed. 

.04 ANSWER :

I source from our own designer curated catalog and have close relationships with dozens of vendors. I've seen, touched, and sat in everything I recommend. I have direct access to items sold by online retailers like burkedecor.com, luluandgeorgia.com, & onekingslane.com

My goal is to find you unique and quality furniture that you can't find in stores yourself and to give you a design you won't find at your neighbors house. 

.05 ANSWER :

I make it so simple you'll never want to buy your own furniture again. 

As for using what you have, I'll find a way to incorporate grandma's heirloom chest, but otherwise it will be all new.

.06 ANSWER :

I'm not just hiding behind the screen, I want to really connect with you just as if we were furniture shopping in person.

Most e-design services stop at the selections and leave it up to you to purchase and execute the design. I realize you're too busy for that so I'll handle your project from start to install.

.07 ANSWER :

Not as much as you think! Upfront you'll need to...
Complete a design questionnaire (20mins)
Measure & Photograph your rooms (30mins)
Virtual Kick Off Meeting (30mins)
From there I can spend as much or as little time as you need reviewing and corresponding over the design.

More importantly - What will you do with all the time you save driving to furniture stores, shopping, ordering, tracking, waiting on multiple deliveries, and assembling furniture?


.08 ANSWER :

Since painting and hardwired lighting are optional based on your scope, I do not include allowances in the budget. 

Trades vary in cost by experience and location, and pricing is dependent on the size of the job it's best to seek recommendations from folks in your area.

Should you want these services to enhance your design, you'll be responsible for hiring and coordinating with these trades.

.09 ANSWER :

ODP has a database of recommended installers all over the US. I'll work with them on your behalf to receive your furniture and schedule a delivery day for them to unpack, assemble, and place your items. They will be armed with our detailed instruction plans and take all the trash only leaving you with a brand new room to enjoy.

These installers are a third party and do not work for ODP.

.10 ANSWER :

Current supply chain and labor shortages are resulting in longer than normal lead times. Current estimates are 1-2 months for the design phase and 6-12 months for furniture delivery.

If you have the time, you'll have more options and more custom pieces. Sometimes there's unexpected delays along the way and I'm here to navigate them for you.

.11 ANSWER :

Typically it starts with what you're comfortable spending. See the budget for room minimums for a starting point. A lot of things factor into creating a realistic furniture budget
- Size of the room (Den vs. Home Office)
- Needs (sofa vs. sectional vs. sleeper)
- Function (Fixed length vs. expanding dining table)
- Quality (veneer vs. solid wood)
- Preference (fabric vs. leather upholstery)
- Size (standard vs. custom length)
- Quantity (seating for 4 vs. 8 Dining Chairs )

Breathe easy, I'll help you figure it out and once you approve your budget, I'll never show you options that exceeds the room total you set.

.12 ANSWER :

The only window treatments ODP can supply are decorative drapery panels & rods. Window treatments, like roller shades, shutters, blackout treatments, motorization, and blinds are a specialized product that require precise measurements and expert installation, which I can't offer as part of our virtual design package.

I'm happy to recommend a direction based on the room design and your specific window conditions which you can share with a local supplier to execute in your room.

.13 ANSWER :

As much as I'd love to take back something for any reason, it's not as easy as dropping a dining table back into the UPS box. There's a lot of man power that goes into getting that table from the factory to your house, and because of that with that I'm unable to take returns. Additionally, some items are produced just for you.

If their was an error on my part, I'll do everything in my power to make it right.

If something arrives damaged I'll coordinate onsite repairs or with the manufacturer to get you a replacement as soon as possible. 




I'd rather you put your money where your butt is - on quality furniture.
