The objective of this kitchen redesign was to transform a dated, large space into a functional, personalized kitchen for a couple who loved cooking & entertaining. The design prioritized ease of access with low drawers, customized storage, and functional features, while also showcasing unique finishes and attention to detail.
One of the key challenges was the kitchen’s size and its open, awkward architecture. To address this, the design introduced distinct zones for different kitchen functions. The main cooking zone was centered behind the island with cabinetry to the rear, giving the chef easy access to all essentials while preparing meals while still being able to converse with those sitting at the dining end and have a view of the tv and out the window. A cleaning zone was placed separately to streamline cleanup, reducing cross-traffic during meal prep. A third zone was dedicated to a breakfast, beverage, and baking bar, allowing the couple to easily make smoothies, tea, or bake bread without interfering with meal preparation. This thoughtful zoning allowed for efficient, multi-functional use of the space, enabling simultaneous tasks to happen smoothly.
